The time right now feels kinda crazy, for sure. But guess what? We are all in this together.

Being a work from home mom now for over 10 years. I know how easy it is to feel unmotivated when you’re working from home. Many of us right now, especially those that are used to working out of the home are now having to work from home, are feeling the stress. Our routines are disrupted, our children are at home with us, and our days are just…different.

I’m genuinely going to ask you because I want to know…how are you doing?

I’ll be honest with you, I am struggling. Not so much on a personal level because everyone’s healthy and everyone’s safe.  I am, extremely grateful that we are alive and breathing.

Staying motivated is not very easy. I do think it’s a really important topic though to talk about our personal style, and dressing apart from home.

Five Style Tips on How to Stay Motivated While Working From Home

It’s really easy to get caught up into that routine of just staying in your PJ’s all day, right? It’s hard to figure out how to stay motivated while working from home!

I want to share with you five different ways that you can dress the part while you’re working remotely from home. So you stay motivated because although our routines are disrupted, you still have a purpose, you still can be motivated, and life is still moving forward.

How you dress is really going to change how you feel about your day, how you feel about the situation, and it really does something to your mood. That’s why we talk about dressing for success. But the same happens when you are working from home.

  • Pair a solid color top with some jewelry

I do this all the time for my zoom meetings and anything else that I have to be visually on-screen fore. If you’re going to be doing more live streaming on Instagram, Facebook Lives, maybe on YouTube, LinkedIn, any of that, this little trick works wonders.

Now is the perfect time to get that kind of like a new dress code going for while you’re working at home. So simply by being business up top, it lets people know when you are on video with them, that you’re still working your business, you’re motivated, and it’s going to inspire them as well.

  • Keep a party happening on the bottom part of your outfit

Because, why not? Here’s what I mean by this…I’m keeping the party down below because I have my workout pants on and my comfy slippers. If you work from home, and you’re working from home, give yourself a little flexibility.

If you know that you have to go live on camera doing some sort of live streaming like this, or a zoom call, keep it business up top, and then you can keep the party down below. Nobody is going to know. And this is what many of us that work from home do on lots of Facebook Lives, or zoom calls, conference calls, things like that on video. This is what we do. This is actually normal for me.

  • Have the basics

Basics are the absolute easiest way and quickest way to get dressed professionally without having really to put much thought into it. If you have a basic white t-shirt, basic black t-shirt, a blazer and a cardigan, those clothing pieces will go a long way. Having those basics in your closet is going to be essential right now. Definitely.

  • Change into comfy clothes after 5 PM

Create work hours for yourself, and then change into comfier clothes once that clock strikes 5. During the day, try to stick to casual business attire, because it will keep you pumped, it’ll keep you motivated, and want you to connect more with people virtually.

  • Dress for success

Envision yourself dressing for success. Not only will it show to those that you are connecting with through video, or live on Facebook but it’s going to give them that visual cue that you are working and that you are busy. If they see that you’re dressed in work attire, they’re going to take you more seriously and you are going to feel like you’re still working, and you’re going to still feel motivated and ready to succeed.

If you need a little bit more guidance on this or want to get into my freestyle group where actually, I go into more in-depth training, and it’s a lot more personal one-on-one connecting.

And the other thing is, this is a really great time to do a closet cleanup. This is going to help guide you through questions to ask yourself as you go through each piece of clothing in your closet. This is just a great time to declutter!
