10 Fashion & Style Hacks Every Working Mom Should Know

Are you a mom looking for some great fashion and style hacks? You won’t want to miss out on these great tips!

I’m sure you can agree to this as a woman that we try to be the masters at multitasking, right? But when we multitask, sometimes we forget about little fashion and style tricks and tips to keep us feeling and looking fabulous.

These are my favorite 10 fashion and style hacks. Actually, there’s more than 10 because I have some extra bonuses that I love, and I use all the time. So I hope that you find this helpful.

10 Fashion & Style Hacks Every Working Mom Should Know

Use your hair ties for versatility

This is actually one that I use quite often. There’s a big trend right now with how you tuck in your top.  If you’re like me and like to do a full front tuck of your top and leave the back out for a little more casual look, do you ever get a bulge in the front when you’re trying to tuck in a longer top?

The trick to not get that annoying bulge is to use a little clear hair tie. Goody makes them in all different sizes and are super versatile. I also love to use them for my belt loop when there’s a little extra sticking out.

Don’t let your sleeves limit you

Roll up your sleeves girl! I used to roll up my sleeves multiple times which ended in an uncomfortable thick roll at my elbows not allowing me to move my arms comfortable.  A much easier and comfortable way is to fold up your sleeve until about your elbow, and then do a second roll.

It stays in place all day, you don’t have to mess with it. And it’s comfortable without  cutting off your blood circulation on your arm because you rolled it too many times. If your cuff has extra fabric, you can always fold that back over as well, which looks really stylish and fun, too.

Fashion tape is your friend

This is one item that I think every woman should keep in their purse. This hack keeps your “girls” inside your top! As simple as fashion tape is all you need. Essentially, it’s just double-sided tape.

I love the little pink box it comes in. Just stick it to the inside of your tunic top’s collar to keep it closed and you’re good to go. These are also great for belts.

So if you have that same problem with your belt loop, where you fasten it, and then you still have a piece that’s hanging out loose stick the fashion tape to your belt where the extra piece is hanging and stick it together keeping that extra piece of belt stuck to itself so it’s not hanging.

Dry shampoo just might be your new best friend

This next one is great if you’re like me and don’t wash your hair every day.  I tend to wash my hair every couple days or so but after a day it tends to get oily looking up top so I would just put it up in a bun or ponytail.

When you use dry shampoo you can actually keep your hair down and give it a fresh look as if it’s nice and clean by using a dry shampoo like Big Sexy Hair.

I’ve tried many different ones. But so far, I have to say that big sexy hair does the job amazingly. It’s just a spray and you spray it right into your hair. And then you just rub it into your scalp soaking up those oils and it will even give you a little bit of extra volume.

Always have something to highlight your lips

If you’re not a lover of lipstick and more of a lip gloss girl, then you will absolutely love NuSkin Power Lips Fluid and Powerlips Polish Duo Lip Shine colors. I’m telling you these are amazing.

I’m really not a lipstick girl…I prefer to run out the door with my lip gloss. But when I’m in a super rush and have no time to really put on a full face of makeup, a bold color on your lips can do the trick to help with a put-together look.

NuSkin’s lip polishes are long-lasting staying on for hours without cracking your lips and keeping your lips super moisturized. Their matte colors even have a fun shimmer to them which is not typical in a matte colored lipstick.

Bonus time: Not part of my list of fashion and style hacks but since I’m on the topic of makeup, here are some of my favorite products that are perfect for those rushed days.

For a fast application of foundation, I’m obsessed with Jennifer Bradley’s 4-in-one Camera Ready Foundation. I love it because it’s really easy to apply to your face, it’s not super thick but also not too thin that it doesn’t cover-up.

It’s perfect for covering those little imperfections that you might want to cover up still giving you a flawless and natural look.  She offers 14 different shades and to make it easy for matching your skin tone to the right shade, all you do is send her a picture of your face without any makeup and she will match it perfectly.

After my foundation, I use Laura Geller’s Translucent baked correcting setting powder.

What I love about this translucent powder is that it’s not like the typical white setting powder that leaves your face also looking really white. Instead, this one has a tint of apricot color and at the same time fills in your pores and sets your foundation perfectly.

Then I apply Tartes bronzer under my cheekbones, under my chin, the top part of my forehead and on the sides of my nose. I even use it as a little bit of eyeshadow on those days that I am rushing out the door without time to do a full face of makeup.

After bronzer I add a little of Laura Geller Baked Blush -N- Brighten. Then to quickly brighten my eyes a little I use the eye shadow pencils from Maybelline

Lastly is mascara. After trying many different ones I’ve settled for Maybelline Lash Sensational. So those are just some quick beauty hacks to get you out the door quickly without having to do a full face of makeup.

Pick out statement earrings

You’re not going to be surprised when I mentioned this one – statement earrings!  If you’ve ever watched my style sessions or have been to one in person, you know I talk about three steps to getting ready in the morning.

First to grab a solid color top or a neutral color top. Second, add a fashion layering accessory piece like a cardigan, denim jacket, denim vest orKomodo.  Third, the last thing you put on is jewelry but it’s the very first thing people will notice about you.

I’m a realist, I know that you don’t always have time to figure out what accessories to put with what outfit. So here’s what you do. Grab a pair of statement earrings. That’s it. You don’t need anything else. If you have those statement earrings, it’s going to do a few things for you.

It will not only grab people’s attention to your impact zone, which is your face.  Which is especially important in business. So if you have a meeting, a special event or speaking engagement in front of a crowd, statement earrings, do the trick.

Maybe if you’re doing a Facebook Live – statement earrings are perfect for your presentation.

Premier Designs Harbour Island earrings are fabulous earrings to pull a fast polished look together.

Fashion hack to wear statement earrings for stretched earring holes using Lobe Wonder

Take care of your ears, always

This is something I have in all my bags and in my car. – Lobe wonder. If you have stretched earring holes, and you can’t wear statement earrings, guess what? Now you can.

These things are amazing. It’s just a little sticker you put on the back of your ear where your earring pokes through. They hold your earring up without them pulling down on your ear lobes and making those holes even more stretched.

Rock the wedgies, momma

Now I am not so much a short wearer but over the summer and really all year long in South Florida where I am, shorts have to be a part of your wardrobe.  To feel more confident in dressier shorts, I love pairing my shorts with cute wedges.

Steve Madden has a great selection and these are just a few of my favorites!  Wedges with shorts help make your legs look leaner and longer.

The length of your jeans matter

Cuffing the bottom of your jeans is another little trick to lengthening the look of your legs. You can still wear heels, sandals, or wedges of course still giving the impression that your legs are longer and leaner than they are.

Cover up those bra straps!

Strap Tamers!  How many times have you worn a tank top or a halter top and either you don’t have the right bra for it or your bra strap hangs out? The trick is to use these Strap Tamers.  They’re basically mega strong plastic paper clips. You strap these to your top and to your bra strap and it holds them both in place.

Those are my favorite top 10 fashion and style hacks.  I hope you’ve found this useful!
