How to incorporate your personal branding into your style
Do you ever feel, or have you felt, maybe you currently feel a disconnect between your personal style, and your services, or your products, or your brand or your business? What about the way you represent yourself with your brand?
You are your brand. You are a walking, and talking advert for whatever you are selling. And it’s so important that whether you are working on branding for your business, or branding for a product, or whatever you want people to believe in that has to do with your brand.
It’s super important that you are aligning your image with how you represent that service or product. And not to mention, that you will align yourself with the prices that you’re asking for, that you’re charging. Your exterior definitely must match what you’re selling.
It’s just a fact if you want it to all work cohesively together. Think of yourself as your brand.
Maybe you’re thinking of starting a new business in this new environment that we’re in. Many people are getting laid off and they’re looking for new opportunities.
If that’s you and you’re thinking, “You know what, I want to start something new on my own”, stop and think of what you’re selling.
Because when you are an entrepreneur and you are promoting a brand, or a product, or a service, you are putting yourself out there first. People want to connect with the human being that’s behind that image just as much as using that product or service.
How to incorporate your personal branding into your style
The first thing you want to do is you want to find what you’re trying to say. You need to get really specific as to what you’re trying to say with your brand. What does your brand have to say about you?
Finding the words to describe your brand
When you consider this, think of words that describe you and I think the most genuine way to really figure this out, is to ask your friends. Ask like five or six friends to describe you.
If they had just five words or adjectives to use to describe you, what would they say? Write those down, and make a list.
Be consistent with your style
Don’t contradict yourself and all you’ve worked for. If you preach something, listen to your own words. If you’re going to talk the talk to your customers and clients, make certain that you walk the walk, too.
Pretty simple and straight-forward but so important for your image and brand.
Highlight what makes you unique
Here’s a great example. Michelle Obama, she has got these amazing buff arms, right? She works hard for them and wants to show them off. And how does she do that? With her style and clothing.
She literally styles her outfits to show off her tones arms. (and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that she does a great job at it!)
It’s okay to highlight your strong features so that people remember you for them! Do so in a way that brings attention without being over the top.
Try a signature style
If you don’t have one, or you don’t think you have one it’s okay. We do have a coaching program through all of this, and it’s not just with your style, but also through your social media strategies.
If you want to learn more about that, and you want me to take a personal look at what you currently have going on with your branding, with your style, with your social media strategies, that’s what I’m here for.
A good example for creating a signature style would be if you’re selling crazy socks as the item you’re trying to market. You should have crazy socks on in every photo that you take, or in every Facebook Live, that you’re on, and you should be highlighting those crazy socks. That is going to be your signature style.
Use color to convey your message
I love this and this is something that we also go through in our “splash program”. When you think colors, you probably think about brights and big prints, right? It also typically means that you are somebody that is cheerful, that’s outgoing, that’s extroverted.
Whereas if you tend to wear more black and white clothing, then you’re more chic, and have more of a classic look, and upscale style.
And then blues come across a little more serene, and intuitive, and have a lot to do with honesty and trust.
So check into your favorite colors and decide what colors you want to use to convey the message that best describes who you are.
Always be true to who you are
The last thing that I feel is super, super important is to be true to yourself. Don’t be a copycat and don’t try to be like somebody else. Be true to yourself, and once you are, you’ll find that authentic style brand and that it aligns with the message you’re trying to convey and the service you’re wanting to provide.
This will help with the pricing that you’re asking for and people will more likely be attracted to that than you just throwing something out there.
Use these tips to help you use your personal branding into your style. You can use these simple branding tips as a great way to propel your style and business and stay true to who you are as well.
